Increasing visibility on rare white matter diseases is necessary and community awareness is the first step!‍ ‍

The ALSP (Adult-onset leukoencephalopathy with axonal spheroids and pigmented glia) is a progressive genetic disease caused by mutations in the CSF1R gene, leading to severe cognitive, psychiatric, and motor decline.‍ ‍

During ALSP (Awareness Week (August 3–7), Céline-Audrey Beauregard , mayor of Verdun borough in Montreal, has invited our Lab Principal Investigator Roberta La Piana from The Neuro (Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital) to sign the Livre d'Or for our exceptional engagement in the research on #ALSP, also known as #CSF1R- related disorders.

A patient representative (Ms. Georgia Kouromali) and our lab team attended the event and had the chance to talk with the mayor and city counsellors about our work and plans for increasing our projects range and financing!‍
